My Brave Soldier

It had been a long time, but now he was here.
He stood in the doorway, with flowers and tears
I was shocked and was glued to my place on the stairs.
I dared not believe he was actually there.
He took off his hat, his army boots squeaked,
He knelt on the floor and my legs became weak
deployed for so long, and being so brave
I love him so much, but I wished he had stayed.
I practically fell down the stairs without care
After such a long time, my brother is there.
