If I can’t be at home with my family, there’s only one place I’d rather be: my friend Lucas’ house. Lucas is one of my good friends and one of my robotics teammates.

You texted me, my heart fluttered.
 

Putting a smile of my face,
Along with some mascara,
Everyday so I don't look like a crap,
Is tiring.
So the smile is gone,
And the mascara is messily put on,
In a hurry for my first video chat of the day.

A little kerplunk! sounds as I drop another rock into the water. I dip my fingers in the rivers ice-cold water to maneuver the stone so that it lets no extra water through my make-shift dam. I step back to admire my work.

Senses vigilant surrounded by blissful peace
Smells of Spring overcome my nostrils
Earthy and sweet I can almost taste it
Wisps of a cool breeze gently kisses my skin
A toad symphony chirps ceaselessly

Life is full of hardships and disasters. When something bad happens to us, it can consume us. Leave us feeling drained, scared, and alone. However when something good happens to us we just skip over it and set it aside.
