One Small Leap

Whiskers woke up at around 10am. By that time his owners had already left. Whiskers then started his daily routine of walking over to the food bowl and spending about a minute or two munching down on the hard pellets that people call cat food. After his breakfast, he waddled his way to the living room. He jumped up onto the arm of the sofa and made another smaller jump to the window sill. As he stared out the window into the outside world, he wondered about all the adventures he could go on if he was out there. He wished that he could have been like his great ancestors, who once lived in the harsh conditions outside of the house. At that moment, Whiskers  decided that this would be the day, no more waiting around, this is the day that he ventures “out there”.

He hopped down from the sill, and made his way over to the hallway which led to the door. Sitting next to the door there was a window that Wisker’s humans would always leave slightly ajar. As he peered over the drop to the ground below, his legs started to tremble. Whiskers had never done anything like this before, up until now he’s stayed out of trouble and tried his hardest to not stick out. He started to contemplate scrapping his idea. “Maybe I should go back. The outside really isn’t a place for a cat like me,” he thought. He was about to turn around, but he noticed a pattern:  whenever he ever tried to do something new and take a risk, in the end he would always end up backing down. He had already tried to go outside before, but each time he just couldn't build up his courage and things would go back to normal. He realized that the biggest obstacle in his way wasn't the door, but himself, and his body filled with courage. He would never allow himself to doubt himself again. With one small leap, Whiskers jumped out of the window and into the great unknown.

Bread. I love bread, and when I say that, I really mean it. Not in the way you love a show or a new pair of shoes. I really love bread. Bread is so versatile. Without bread, what would you do? Make pizza? Out of the question.
