I write in pen
to get comfortable with my mistakes
to catch all my thoughts
scatterbrained
and fleeting
pens scratch the itch to write
better than any graphite
the use of ink before pencils
has led me to believe
that pens were made for writing
and my thoughts are most pensive.
I never thought I'd be 16
nor thought the grass would still be green.
At 5 I met my oldest friends
who I still talk to now and then.
At 6 and 7, all through 10
Nostalgic blurs remain of them.
When Eros shoots the heart of one
The piercing point of Beauty’s son
Borne of love and lust and loss
To pine for one’s a lover’s cost.
Regret has many meanings, and this time I feel it strong
For "love" can be the right word, and yet so very wrong.
I've kept all boats tethered, left none to sail away

I know exactly what you mean about pen allowing you to own your mistakes. I'm the same way, and even like the thought of making a record of those mistakes to look back on! Graphite pencils seem to have no longevity or permanence to them, a sentiment you captured well in your words.
