Pretty

You’re pretty like sunshine and roses

But also like orchids in moonlight

Like water reflecting the sky

Like tired nights when the wind heaves a sigh

Pretty like a foggy forest

Like sunshine through the mist

Pretty like the crescent moon,

In clouds that drift and kiss

Pretty like the mountains tall

The hills wild and untamed

Pretty like the city lights

Stars of another name

You’re pretty like the frozen roses

Or snowdrops by the windowsill

Pretty like the Maybells

Or like a songbird’s trill

You’re pretty like the sky before

A storm that beats the shore

Pretty like the wet, damp sky

Where a storm has come before

Like the sun rays through the fog

Like the moonshine in the mist

Pretty like the frozen sea

Or a solar eclipse

Pretty like the rise of dawn

Pretty like the dusk

Pretty like iron strong

And pretty like the rust

You’re pretty like the rivers running

Pretty like the streams

Pretty like the brooks still trickling

Pretty as it seems

Pretty like the dandelions

Hard to kill and free

Pretty like the baby’s breath

A beauty to witness and see

You’re pretty like the sleeping nights

Like waves that ebb and flow

Pretty like the lakes so bright

Like the moss that always knows

Pretty like an island fair

Like the sound of rain coming down

Pretty like the pebbles and stones

Or leaves falling to the ground

You’re pretty like so many things

So keep that in your heart

You always are and forever will be

Way more than just enough

    I'm sorry.

And I guess that's all I can really say.

    I watched them fall

watched and I couldn't do anything

    at Columbine

    at Sandy Hook

    at Parkland.

    I couldn't do anything

  • Death of the Cat

If curiosity killed the cat, then homo sapiens sapiens is closer to felis catus than humanity would like to admit, which is all the more reason to reach for new frontiers.

  • We the Broken, Weary Now

    The clock is broken

It stopped ticking a long time ago

stopped counting how much time has passed.

It's an old grandfather clock, oak wood, and sculpted to perfection

    carefully crafted by hands

    that belonged to men
