Probability and my stupid computer

5% battery left (about 13 minutes). Connect your device to power.

4% battery left (about 17 minutes). Connect your device to power.

Wait.

What?

How did that go up?

Logically

that's not possible.

Is it that unpredictable?

And now

it's still at 4% but says about 15 minutes left.

Is my computer that unpredictable?

Is it really that hard to tell when something will turn off

because I've starved it of its power?

If a human went without water for two days

would someone say that they have about two days left

and then the next day three?

Is it really that unpredictable?

Do you really not know when you'll shut off?

Doesn't that mean that right now,

right this moment,

you could crash and shut down and delete all of my apps?

Is it possible

even if the probability is incredibly low?

at 2%

will you be at 20 minutes left?

I'm watching the number go up

is this real?

What's going on?

No one is giving me straight answers

and my stupid computer can't even tell me when it'll actually shut off.

I see why people charge their devices now.

    How

    do others see me?

Do they see a girl in gray cargo pants and light blue thermal quarter zip?

Do they see a friend who loves them despite her crankiness?

Do they see a quiet awkward girl who prefers books to people?

I used to spin golden thread

thin and pure as warm sunlight

    lighter than feathers

    worth more than gold

    Now it's murky and brown

chunky and stringy as grassy mud

    heavier than sorrow
