Shattering

Sitting in uncomfortable silence,

We wait for our problem to be solved.

Changing my habits, I hope and hope.

We have been given so much,

And we have taken so greedily.

Caring is beyond so many, it seems.

I fear the worst, as I have better dreams.

I know in the end, my hopes may not matter.

It breaks my heart a little,

As I watch our future slowly shatter.

The lands strength is becoming brittle,

As we wring out the life from the land.

Like water separated from sand.
