Straight Line

I am not a straight line

I am crooked

I am curved

I am queer

Please, do not try to measure me

Please, do not waste your energy

On such a tiny being such as I

I do not fit, I know I do not fit

It isn't worth your time --

(Nor mine, yet still I try) --

To find a place, a spot for me

I am but a dot on a blade of grass

In acres and acres of field

Do not bother --

Do not waste your time with me

I am not anything the future will see.

like a flock of birds rising

from the ashes of Phoenix's horizon.

We, and the cacti, watch the fireworks

  • Musings on a Lost Ring

    I found a ring I thought I’d lost

in the bottom of my bag.

I haven’t seen it since last spring —

    It’s funny, isn’t it?

    All these months,

    I thought it gone,

all this time, I’ve just been

    carrying it.

  • Please, don’t.

    Don’t.

    Don’t you know?

Don’t you know what I mean?

Don’t you know what I mean when I say

something isn’t right something isn’t right something isn’t right
