Keebler Strawberry Wafers and Pepsi.
I can feel the artificial crystals pile up and melt into the cracks of my cavities.
I cringe at the aftertaste but refuse to waste it.
It reminds me of the afternoon drives we used to take.
A milky way of stars sticking to the fabric of my car seat, smothering my cheeks as giggles fly.
Do you remember then?
I can still feel the sway of our aluminum spaceship swirling through the asteroid belt.
I can still smell the rocket fuel on your breath as you grip the wheel.
Suddenly, the tank explodes.
You swerve right, out of orbit.
Twinkling meteorites shower the molten shield. It’s too much pressure; the glass splinters, chips, cracks.
You shatter, I scream.
No sound escapes me; music box always silent. Feet rock back and forward, twirling to chaos’s motion.
My body floats into the ebony vacuum, out of control.
I can hear your shrieks reach Fortissimo in this everlasting melody.
I tune you out, our duet is reaching coda.
I feel a warm embrace within these interstellar nebulae, contrasting your own.
The constellations rock me to sleep within its cradle.
I close my eyes, leaving you to turn to space dust.

Poetry Practice: Night to Dawn
In the still of night,
Shadows dance and play.
Soft moonlight fades,
As stars begin to sway.
Silent whispers ofDarkness start to fade;
As first light of dawn

Wisp Wind
You've left me alone
But the world keeps on spinning
I am bleeding endlessly.
And I don’t know what to do.
I forget the color of your eyes
And the smell of your mountain breath.

Red Clover
I dream of him less than I used to –
But our story always starts the same.
I am small, and his oil-stained hands hold me like the Red Clover,
So tightly that I think he’ll never let me go.
