Strife

Inspired By My Own Book Series

She picks up her pen and paper

Telling the story of her life

She hopes one day they’ll listen

And end the land’s strife

She lets her past guide her pen

Taking her miles away

Bringing her back home

To a time when she would run and play

But those times were long ago

And the war has brought tragedy

Now she’s been left all alone

Suffering from the world’s brutality

But the fighting never ends

As she watches them suffer

And the only one who cared for her

Can never recover.

  • peace is impossible

    I close the windows

    Lock the doors

    Turn off the lights

I don’t ever want to leave this room.

    I am tired of drowning

    In a world

That has never prepared me to swim.

There are ten days left until the first day of my freshman year,

    And I am fearful.

Fearful of drowning under the thrashing waves,

For I have been taught to survive

    but never to truly live.

  • Revival

    One day,

you will feel pain so excruciating it becomes abstruse. You will feel numb, detached from the world, lost in a void of darkness.
