Tithings For Retirement (Pt 1): The Emotional Guide to This Teenage Anarchist in 10 Revolutions

Revolution One:

Fear is a tip-of-the-tongue sensation-

“What-ifs” so broad you can taste them

but never fully articulate them.

Palpable ignorance and confusions,

is it all worsening

over time?

What will we do? you scream

into the vacuum of space…

Metal piques a keen interest

in the back

of your throat.

Revolution Two:

Acceptance taught me to forgive,

hands cool with mute neutrality

like the Buddha’s patience for time.

On your cheeks and through your hair,

she traces spells and murmurs

somewhere far away and close to your heart,

like a spider’s small breath

to cause great tremors

throughout his entire

web.

Revolution Three:

I know better but I’m still a human…

It’s so simple to be ANGRY

because its cause can be too complex for human analysis.

Or maybe you were just waiting all along,

For the falling spark

you used to light your cigarette,

And the

entire

Field

of hay.

Revolution Four:

I want to revoke my citizenship,

give up my humanity,

cut the ties,

shatter the dams,

tear down the walls,

erase the words,

toss the keys to sea,

destroy the art,

and be

Empty.

Revolution Five:

There’s more out there…

Here, there, everywhere!

Cicada buzz and electric fingertips,

we love like animals

because we are animals.

Grab the stars and don’t let them go

because who knows

where we will be

Tomorrow,

If not here?
