Use your voice

A single
small thought
creeps into my mind.
Open me, it says,
like it's a tresure chest.
It clings to the very edge
of the sea of thoughts,
not wanting to let go.
I peer at it,
scared to open it
and let it flow free.
I edge closer.
My curisoty overpowers me
and I turn the key.
It gives a soft creak
and says words I'll never forget.
If you never use your voice,
no one can hear you.

If you never write your thoughts,
you won't remember.
If you never remember to use your voice
in one way or another,
what difference will you make?

I grin.
Why was I worried?
These are words that inspire,
not anger.
I begin
in a messy scrawl
to write this thought down
and many others
that will help me make a difference
and use my voice.

  • Thoughts after the fair

I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of being sick to your stomach on a fair ride. Maybe I just don’t have the iron-willed intestines that all of my friends seem to have, because I get sick from going on the teacups at a normal speed.

  • october, my love

    october,
    my love,
it is good to see you once again.

although it appears i have missed
    your grand entrance,
    while i left the room.

i walked along the street to visit you,
    and looked up,
  • scratches

    skin pulled taut and tight
    burning like the light
    that seeps through cracks
    underneath the door

    from stray branches and walking
    throughout the woods, balking
    at the idea
    of no path

    water rests on skin
