Why I Need to Stay

People always ask me, 

Why don’t you want to leave? 

They ask this because everyone 

      wants 

                to leave. 

This is where I grew up

Where I’m from 

            Where we’re all from

My grandma 

My mom

Sister 

Brother 

My family 

The people I love

I’ve learned everything I know 

How to tie my shoes, 

Ride a bike, 

Became my own person 

I’ve loved everyone and everything with all I have 

My family, friends, 

The change in seasons 

My home 

I've lost almost everything 

Got some back 

And lost it all 

         Again 

           And Again 

                And again. 

All of this happened here 

These are the things that made me 

The reasons I’m the person I am today

And I wouldn’t change a thing. 

This place

For me 

Has been everything. 

And now you know why I can never leave.
