The wind blows the grass down

Why can the wind

Be blowing

That piece of grass down

One moment

And not the next?

There’s a scientific answer

I bet

And usually that’s what I’m looking for.

But it felt poetic that way,

The way the grass is like water and the atoms orbit

In me like moons orbit Jupiter and I know

They’re different things

But right now

I don’t need to know

Why the wind can blow grass down

It will come right back up and then

The piece next to it is blown down

And it seems so obvious

Poetic

I think I should leave it

Like that.

  • (you made me feel)

    I'll forget

    (the exact words,

    too many to remember)

    (I wish I wouldn't,

I want to have you with me

    always)

    what you said.

    I'll forget

    (if we shared lunch

    or went downtown

  • Helpless

    I saw a photo

Of you when you still had hair

    Brown, nothing

    Special, that hair was.

I forgot what you looked like

With hair that didn’t come off when you traded it

    For a hat.
