I wrote a poem today, but I don't think anyone will ever see it
I wrote it using nothing
and something,
and a mix of these things
I wrote it using the words that my mother gave me,
and the words don't taste like how they did when I was 5
and there are no wooden blocks to guide my tongue
(my teeth. I use my teeth to speak)
I gave myself an A, even though it didn't have a title
and it doesn't flow like poetry,
but it tastes the same
and I gave myself an A, even though there were grammatical issues
and there really was no thought behind it at all;
I expected that from something I wrote with nothing (and something and a mix of these things)
so I gave myself an A, even though I didn't really deserve it
but these are the words that my mother gave me
and A tastes a lot like breast milk

"I wrote it using nothing
and something,
and a mix of these things" - love this so much!
I love the repetitiveness of "I gave myself an A" I feel like it helped keep the rhythm of the poem.
This is really well done! You so clearly play with the intangible and create really lovely metaphors and pressurized connections.
