On the Bright Side

There's a reason they say "illuminating"
For a touch of light perfects everything
To seem cleaner, fresher,
Polished and pristine

Like that November morning
When a warm glow bathed the ground
The world was a sharply focused lens
And bare trees became swathes of gold

Or the glint in his eyes
As he turned towards the sun
To capture a bit of brightness for himself
But the best parts escaped for us

And the notes of her laugh
Which trickled down like waterfalls
Caught in the path of a moonbeam:
Refreshing, sweet, and cool on the tongue.
