Guns

"There is no solution to the gun problem, and little more to write, because Americans are addicted to firearms," author Stephen King writes in the New York Times (Oct. 27, 2023), in response to another mass shooting – this one in his home state of Maine. Eighteen people, including a 14-year-old boy and his father at a bowling alley, died in the shooting in Lewiston, Maine on Oct. 25, 2023. The gunman used a military style semiautomatic rifle. President Biden has called on Republicans to pass legislation to "end this gun violence epidemic." The new speaker of the house, Republican Mike Johnson, says the problem isn't guns. "The problem is the human heart." What do you think? [Photo by Paul Pastourmatzis on Unsplash]
