Why I'm Scared

I.
Because the spiders seem to have a way
of crawling in through all the cracks
in my walls.
Their legs are too long and
their bodies too small.

II.
Because the dark is somehow always
too dark
and it's hard to tell what lies within it.
I could miss a step and be sent
falling through the air, with no one to catch me.

III.
Because no one ever seems to stay,
not for me at least.
I can't tell if it's something I do,
or something I don't,
but they all leave at some point.

IV.
Because all the other men in my life
have hurt me, either with their
hands,
words,
or souls.

V.
Because you, like a spider,
have made it past my walls
and there is now an infestation of you
in my head and heart.
The kind I want to consume me.

VI.
Because when your hands touch me,
they don't burn, and when I fall,
you are there to catch me.
You are soft and new to my life,
and I don't ever want you gone.

Wow. This seems so professional. I really like how you introduce your themes in the form of fears, and then circle back to connect them all. Creative formatting for this piece, too. Nice job :)
