We Are All Human

This is the most human feeling we have
To experience what it is to be
Is to experience a life of the unexpected
The unknown
Truth
Vows
Promises

It's very human to want more
But it's even more human to give
To need less
Want less
Give more

It's human to have a connection
With the waves of the water
The blue of the sky
The green of the grass
And the peace of the earth

We are all human
As we stare into the sky
As the ones before us once did
The same clothes on our backs
As the ones before
The time stays the same
As the world is the one that is always changing

And like the ones before
Centuries from now
We will stand
On the same hill
Staring into the same sky
As we still wonder about the past
And wish for the future

  • What is left

[This is a reposted edited version of a previous poem of mine.]

when all we have is spent–

    what will we have left?

    people once before us–

  • down the street

    i walked down the street
the streets i once used to know
filled with regrets and heavy with burdens
    of what once happened here

    i walked down the street
    a block or so down

  • Dear god, am I real?

I believe in god even though I may know he doesn’t exist

I know the mountains were not formed by him

Instead it is the science in the world

The reason we are here in this moment
