Sat down drew
on a piece of paper
the land
we knew.

lines between
us

it's a squiggle here
decided,
the river's clear
ly a bound

it wants to separate

Funny thing is
I can sit and look
at you
across the line
they say is here
and it's not
but we're us
you're them
that doesn't go away
like that.

They talk and if you listened
you would know,
they whisper
like kindergarteners
who can't stand straight in lines
but they can jump straight
