Hello Neighbors

US-Canada relations are at an all-time low under the Trump administration. Write a message to our neighbors in response to the April 28 election in which Canadians voted for a Liberal Party government that promises to fight Trump's tariffs and his talk of making Canada the 51st state.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, an economist and novice politician, led the Liberal Party to victory in a remarkable shift away from the right-wing populism of Pierre Poilievre and his Conservative Party.

“President Trump is trying to break us so America can own us,” Carney said, vowing to "fight back with everything we have to get the best deal for Canada. We will build an independent future for our great country."

Polls had favored the Conservatives until Trump's aggressive talk this winter propelled Canadians to stand up for Canada and reject the Trump-like qualities displayed by the "anti-woke" Poilievre, who lost his seat in the election. In Carney, they saw a confident defiance of Trump and an experienced economist's hand in the new reality of a trade war. Carney, a Harvard- and Oxford-educated economist, served as governor of the Bank of Canada during the 2008 global financial crisis and the Bank of England during Brexit.

National pride has kicked into high gear in Canada. If you're inspired, send a message to our northern neighbors!

  • Remember

I will always remeber the border,

a line that is so man made no animals see it,

a line that is so man made you have to prove your worth to get to the other side.

I will always remember the fear I had,

  • They knew what could be

The little girl sat in her swing

blond curls the way they are before

you grow up the everywhere I don't care

it looks like my hair was woven from sunlight

a throne for a flower crown.

  • Borders

    Sat down drew

    on a piece of paper

    the land

    we knew.

    Sat down drew

    lines between

    us

    ----

    them

    it's a squiggle here

    decided,

    the river's clear

    ly a bound

  • Hello

    We went to Montreal recently

On a school trip for our band.

We almost didn't have a performance to go watch

Or a friendship concert with another school

  • I'm Sorry

    I'm sorry

    I'm sorry for what

    My country is doing

For what we seem to think

    Is OK

    I'm sorry for how

    My president is acting

  • Dear Canada

    Dear Canada,

You do not belong to us.

    You never have.

And I really, really hope you never will.

You are your own country, but I know I don’t have to tell you that.

    You already know it.
