meeting you

I don’t think we were supposed to ever meet 

It was never meant to work 

You are something different than everything I have loved before 

I love the smell of the forest 

And baking 

The fresh smell of waffles on the first day of school

I love sitting on a Ferris wheel in the middle of summer 

With no destination 

Laughing with people I know I belong with 

But when I talk to you I forget all of that 

I forget there is still life in the world 

But being with you does not make the lights blur away 

 like how they do in movies

The ones where two people know they were supposed to meet 

I'm desperate to try and make the lights blur 

But it makes me dizzy 

thinking about spending a life with someone who I was never supposed to meet
