THE TOMORROW PROJECT

The Tomorrow Project is YWP's civic engagement initiative that calls on the YWP community to write and create art around issues of human rights, democracy and ethics, values, community, and climate change. The project has fueled outstanding poetry, commentary, photography, painting, and more! Our list of Tomorrow Project Challenges continues to grow with new writing and visual art prompts and monthly awards. We're collaborating with A Revolutionary Press of New Haven, VT, to create a series of letterpress prints from The Tomorrow Project, including the one below. The words are by YWP's Isla Segal, 14, of Woodstock, VT, with linocut art by Vermont artist Laila Almefty-Hernandez. The letterpress print with hand-set type was created by John Vincent, director of A Revolutionary Press.

CHALLENGES

GREAT ARTISTS AND GREAT WRITERS CHALLENGES: These features celebrate outstanding contemporary artists and writers to engage and inspire YWP's aspiring artists.

Panel 1 of “Struggle: From the History of the American People.” The work, by Jacob Lawrence, was received with some ambivalence by the art world. The collection was eventually purchased by a private collector who later resold each panel separately.Credit...The Jacob and Gwendolyn Lawrence Foundation, Seattle/Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York, via PEM
