There's always someone on the wrong side

every day, we hear them
one tweet after another

I can no longer look in the mirror,
The person standing there is unrecognizable.
All that's left is the morphed image of every mask I carry

For nine years, I've been a part of YWP and for nine years, I've felt seen by this community. Even as I've grown up, I've watched new young writers come and share their thoughts, emotions, and stories.

I am 19 years old today.
Crazy.
I'm a bit nostalgic because woahh, I'm old.
And there's a twinge of sadness because 
COVID has prevented the gathering settings
that I love.
But,
it's okay.
