What is strength 

Is it the power to crush the earth with one stomp

Or to break bones in one strike

Or is it to be able to create something beautiful 

Maybe it’s to have an unwavering passion 

A bee

Small and simple

It is designed to kill itself to protect the queen

But we fear them for a momentary sting

Maybe the sting isn't physical pain 

But the sting of a creature dying because of a mistake

Ears pop up from behind a fallen tree

Twitching and moving like a sonar dish

Then the beast to which the ears belong pops up

A childish and mischievous fox pops up

Hopping around like it owns the forest

Eyes glowing in the dark 

Too far to see what it is

Close enough to see the eyes glowing in the dark

We fear what we can't see

But we fear what we could see even more 

We fear the old god's wrath

Past the heavenly glow

It is a creature that changes its emotions like swapping masks

It might act holy and then show its wrath

Its anger is strong 

The gods of old

The beings we worship 

Seem to glow so much

So much so that we fell for the fox’s trap 

We fell for that heavenly glow
