You were always

the original scientist

that inspired the hearts of malleable

kids. They would be sitting in circles

of those numbered matts

with fiddling fingers

that only were (slightly) off task.

You were always a good actor

But you don’t act like you used to

Don’t lie

I can see the pain in your eyes

Your silent cries,

Your pleas for help

And I know in their eyes

Our world is filled with such

Delicate things, such

Beautiful little lights we

Find glittering in our eyes and

Try to tuck

you’re perfect.

all of you.

and i don’t need to say more

but i will

because i want to write about every one of you

For my friend, who 

sent me a letter in the mail even though 

we see each other every day, just 

so she could gift me a card and 

a lovely little poem;
