is such a pretty sentiment

like

for the love

for the memories that used to be young

Sometimes I wonder

It was dark and light all at once

Fire lit

A volleyball we couldn’t see

A game we couldn’t play

People I didn’t know

I could be with 

Did you have a face

or was that a blur as well?

Did you have bird knees

or were they only your favorite?

Were you or did you?

You had your platform with your mike you spoke cheerfully into

From past friends

or mild acquaintances

there will be times where I am not only acknowledged

but appreciated

it makes me happy

makes me content

She cares

It’s like she felt the pain

In my heart

And understood it

All at once

She listens as

The words fall out of my mouth

Whispers of warmth drifting through the air,

The security of being understood,

Such a great feeling,

If only it weren’t so fleeting.

Gentle laughs and puppy kisses,

Light squeezes of a hand,
