Goldenrose

I am someone who is waiting on a dock in the middle of the night. There is a gross, green electric light shining on me. There is something out in the waves. 

I don’t know if I’m pretty enough for this world, 

I’ve got scars from every adventure I’ve ever had. 

I’ve got acne and spots no matter what I do and what I eat. 

You tiptoe around

Your feelings

Keep them in a bag

With a zipper

And zip them up

You say you're like lemonade

You can be sweet

But you can be sour

And people told you

There is a different version of me that leaks out,

dripping ink on these pages,

hollow and raw,

saying all my thoughts.

A flow of words that may have never left my head,

You’re everywhere I look—

I can’t escape the photos we took.

This haunting obsession

I thought had passed returns,

sharp—

sudden,

like a looking glass.

We were happier then—
