It’s getting hard to tell apart
My head from hell,
My melting heart:
A puddle on my driveway,
A stain upon my shirt.

braking for leaves
in the beam of headlights
a flash of motion darts across dark asphalt.
brakes slam,
a breath catches in the throat.
and the stillness of a stopped car

Teenagers
We lie in bed with our arms around ourselves,
cradling the mangled bodies of children
who had the stars squeezed out of their eyes so that, still shining, they fell

Everybody has somebody — the person who is their everything and whom they never want to go without.
It could be for a long time or a short time, a moment or an age.

it used to be all of us
a group of close-knit friends, who'd sit together, laugh together, sometimes even cry together.
