One by one

For we are the stories

Without endings

Like mirages that only come true through

a cloaked gaze

They are dug into history

Encrypted with prints

Having a best friend is like

you know all their deepest secrets

but will forget their favorite color.

We go for calculus before algebra

before we even know it since

every bff relationship is an even,

We didn't do what was possible in our work, we broke everything every time we changed the world anew.

How can you say that you are a provider of justice?

You pledge loyalty to sin like it's a hobby 

just to turn around with a cross in hand

and sickly smile in the next.

So explain to me how you should get to decide

I can only wish to check off something from my

endless lists that create the illusion of success.

What will it be today?

My week old math homework due in the next hour

or adding another item to my list?

Should I continue this lie

that I am finding this world to be okay?

That I'm comfortable as I worry every time I 

show my shoulders because 

what if

this is the day that I'll remember with
