At the top of the stairs a little girl stood,

holding her plush giraffe and a blank expression.

Her eyes were locked below at her parents hushed

conversation about the news.

A little girl...

America is not make up of one flag

and should never resort to a statement otherwise.

I saw

many flags

that represent you and me

and US because

we are made up of 

gay,

queer,

trans,

I wasn't always like this-

I wasn't always with friends or have perfect grades. I didn't always have shoulder lengthen hair.

I didn't always have eyes that changed colors depending on everything. 

A monkey resting

leaves to filter, clouds above

and lies out of reach?

Are we all mirrors?

Reflecting what others

do and say

but when we see mirrors

we see a filter?

A filter that adds

comments

popping up like pimples.

Are we all mirrors

We are people,

First off.

People that for decades

have screamed into the abyss of

wealthy ignorance.

We have lent voices far and wide

without results.

We have carved mountains with the 

news
