I am 13

I am in 7th grade.

I like school. Most of the time.

I am quite good at school.

I'm in all the advanced classes offered. 3 years ahead in Math, 3 years ahead in my English vocab, and on the hardest History track.

“Why didn’t you ask for help?”

When I didn’t write for weeks

I was asking for help

When I stopped smiling

When I stopped laughing

When happiness became fake

' you're just a kid, you don't understand. '

i do understand,

i understand very clearly.

i'll never know who to choose to be my friends,

Getting up, growing older 

younger days just blew right over 

gone in a flash, knowing I'll never gain them back 

now I'm always in a dash 

running from class to class 

What happened to my childhood?

Where did it all go?

I swear it was right there...

All my self-confidence, my imagination, my courage, my creativity...

But it all just disappeared...

For 12 years of our lives, we are put in this place. 

This place is where our energy slowly drains from our bodies. 

The work that we do slowly gets harder and harder
