The world
Cold and dark like a blizzard in the night.
Deceiving and dangerous as if a snake with fangs like daggers.
Wild like the wind and agonizing like a fire with flames white as snow.

They smile,

The night
The crickets are chirping softly.
The moon is out,
Bright and glorious.
Cars race as fast as they can to get back home.

The pond
It was a clear sunny day.
The ducks were swimming in the pond gracefully.
The water of the pond was as green as the trees.

No place better
A better place, they whisper
yet, its your arms i long to embrace.
they call it heaven,
a place above,
better than the earth we love.
if heavens better,
why does my heart ache for love i can't remake?

why i petted the dog on the side of the road on a particularly humid texas afternoon
because i was exhausted and cranky
and it was too late in the week to be walking home
and because texas was threatening to rain all over us, especially me. -
where it doesn't wait.
I keep checking
the places happiness once sat,like a pocket
I’ve already turned inside out.
