Eighteen people, including a 14-year-old boy and his father at a bowling alley, died in the shooting in Lewiston, Maine on Oct. 25, 2023. The gunman used a military style semiautomatic rifle. President Biden has called on Republicans to pass legislation to "end this gun violence epidemic." The new speaker of the house, Republican Mike Johnson, says the problem isn't guns.
