Sailing
What a peaceful yet tricky concept
But when the wind is blowing just right
And guiding you to wherever you will go next
So gently you don't even have to think about it
Once upon a time,
there was a cabin.
It was not big,
it was not grand,
but it was ours.
Our great-grandparents built it so many years ago,
they wanted a cabin that would be passed down for generations.
It's a tree,
A plain old Apple tree,
So why does it mean so much to me?
The apples aren't normal,
They're mostly rotten,
But the tree,
That apple tree,
It brings me peace,
Shade,
In the early morning I wake. I dress silently and slip out of my sleeping bag. I slowly unzip the tent flap, trying to let my tent mates sleep. The morning air is cold and biting, and a deep fog encases everything around.
i mean it's not calm but the first five minutes
of chorus when everyone is cascading in
through the too-small doorway are my favorite & we,
always the first to sit down,
cluster & converse about
Feeling my soft shoes
Impacting the ground
My calves and my lungs,
Burning from effort
But it feels so good
Because even though
There's this random office building across the Cinemark downtown.
Sometimes, when I go there,
I'll watch a dumb movie at the theater,
Then tiptoe past glass windows of desk workers.
