I dread going to school every single day.

I hate it,

I hate being trapped there.

But I love being greeted by my best friend

who could make hell

feel as freezing as

these February Maryland mornings.

Sometimes I dream of never meeting you. I dream of the dates I would’ve never experienced, the love thrown in the void.

Would I even know what love is without you? Would I still believe in fate, or true love?

I love the smile on people's faces when I hand them a poem with their name on it & yes of course you get to keep it.

Together, sitting, writing, talking.

Sharing dreams for the future.

Hoping we'll still be friends years from now, when we don't see each nearly every day.

I have always thought about the future a lot

It was always college

And ivy league goals

And 4.0 GPAs

And all night study sessions

What is a world without its Sun?

Without.

Warmth to lead seasons into a dance?

Without.

Gravity to pull the tides into longing?

Without.

Light to rend the dark?

You’re always beside me

Or maybe in front
