Day and night he awaits his moment,
never applauded, never appreciated,
never in the spotlight.
He longs for a time
when he is recognized for his mind,
being worth more than a dime.
Sent on a quest to find the perfect leaf,
orange and delicate,
he's happy to take the leap.
Awarded a certificate is what he will be.
He must find it at all costs,
he just wants to be seen.

This is such a wonderful background for the boy from the challenge! Because the boy rushes past "you," I read this like someone was there on the sidewalk, imagining the life of this boy, sending him well wishes on his quest to be noticed, to be seen. And I could relate to him, too -- I was very much on the same journey when I was a kid. Lovely work.

I love the meter of this and I got apprehensive just reading the first few lines, I felt the suspense and the want of this character immediately. I want a part two, what happenes! Keep writing :)
