Bumblebee

Here's the key

To surviving the bumblebee:

First,

Never put that left index finger down on the C

When you see a D right after - it will slow you down

And the goal is

As fast as you can go

As hard as you can go

The entire time.

Second,

Study chromaticism and scales beforehand

It's basically a giant chromatic scale

Very fast

Very repetitive

But you gotta watch out for those tiny little pattern changes

Note changes

That we all listen for.

We listen for movement.

This song moves very fast.

Third,

Use the dynamics

As buildup

The song sounds like a bumblebee

Bumblebees get aggravated

Bumblebees sting

Bumblebees buzz

Play like a bumblebee.

Fourth,

Always anticipate the next.

Do not get caught off guard by sudden ascensions or

Higher octaves

Never get caught unawares

Or you will be left in the dust.

Fifth,

Stay outside of your body.

If it is just you moving your fingers

And you feel every cramp

Every place where your fingers hit the keys

You are doing it wrong.

You want to be in your mind

Thinking ahead

Or better yet outside of it

Playing in your heart.

That's your key

To surviving the bumblebee -

A song so nuanced

So fast-paced

It seems there's nothing to it but slurred scales

But the key is

You need to be the bumblebee.

    Long day

past where morning sun shines and into the dark huskiness of night

    fluorescent lights beating down

    then flickering off

    a fanfare

    a reflection

    a redemption

  • Instincts

    Some things are just instinct

like when I just ran to you

as soon as I saw you

    and hugged you for -

    oh yeah -

    the first time

    very very platonic of course

    you're my big brother.

  • Flying solo

Your solo is like sun shining through the clouds in my heart

    it's like a platonic ballad

    it's like you are playing

    through first loves

    and forbidden loves

    and grass in the summer

    and crunchy chips
