They taught each other happy

There was a girl.

Dancing with the little kids,

and smiling.

He,

the one watching her,

forgot what it was like to be happy like that.

She,

the girl,

reminded him.

There was a girl.

Doing her very best in life,

making sure nobody would forget her.

He,

the one watching her,

hadn't tried that hard in years.

She,

the girl,

made him try.

There was a girl.

Doing her very best to hide

the fact she was dying.

He,

the one watching her,

knew what it was like to hide,

but not to die.

She,

the girl,

would never wish him to feel that.

There was a girl.

Who died trying her very best,

to change somebody's life.

He,

the one watching her,

knew whose life she changed.

Before her,

his life was dark, and cold.

But she,

the girl,

taught he,

the one watching,

what it was like to feel warmth,

and color in his life.

Both of them,

he,

the one watching,

and she,

the girl,

thought they'd done

nothing for the other.

But that wasn't true,

they taught each other how to be

truly happy,

just by being there.

  • Colors I hear

    Aimee Carty.

    She's my favorite artist.

Her name is a swirl of blue and pink in my mind,

    but her music-

oh, her music is such a beautiful blend of all the colors you can name.

  • So you say

You sit at your fancy desk and act like you're doing something.

    Something good for the world.

    You say that you are,

    you say that you're helping.

    You're not,

    haven't been,

  • She used to

    She used to smile.

    She used to laugh.

    She used to not care.

    She still smiled and laughed,

    but it wasn't real.

She used to not care but then she did.

    When did it start?
