"Determination is the best tool to change how we live." How right you are! Words of wisdom here. If you lead with that foot in life, you will go long distances.
I'm willing to bet you tried harder than you realize... It's so easy to look back and tell ourselves we could have done so much more, achieved such high heights if only we'd applied ourselves, but the truth is, most of us are doing the best we can at the time. Believe in that about yourself!
And hey, second place is a wonderful place to be! Did you know Olympic athletes who place second feel a greater sense of dissatisfaction than those who place third? It's because second place is SO CLOSE to first, but those in third place are just so proud of themselves for having placed at all, having tried and accomplished anything at all. I try to remember that wonderful "third-place mindset" when I fall into the trap of comparing myself to others.
Woah -- it took me a minute to realize a couple of these were likely light-wrapped trees? The way they spiral out, so beautiful. Purely celestial. Wish I could have seen this show, or procession, or whatever it was!
I love that final cuplet! especially the conversational like nature of it, since it's been my experience that the more feelings i keep inside the more conversations I end up having with myself!

I really love this poem! Is this based on something or did this story just come to you?
Thank you!

Thank you! I love personification in poems.
Thank you so much! I wrote it on a very foggy day this December and I'm so glad it had the feeling I intended!
