Thanks. I appreciate the support.

I struggle sometimes with nonverbality, and that was the inspiration for this poem. It was my way of communicating when I couldn’t speak.

Y'know, I really feel like most people would have chosen to write about the night of a performance. The fact that you didn't is what makes this poem special to me: You wrote about the goings-on behind the curtain at the theater, not on opening night but at a mere dress rehearsal. I love to see and hear about your mind wanderings, your observations, your little rituals, and feel this building sense of anticipation with you at the end. I hope you break a leg at your show!

It's astonishing how much we take water for granted here in America and in other developed nations. Rarely does it cross my mind how fortunate I am when I slip my glass beneath the faucet, yet of course there are others in the world so deprived by the worsening conditions of climate change that they must walk miles with a bucket to the nearest well. You spoke not like Earth's lawyer here today but Earth's most earnest friend, reminding us not to take what we have for granted, reminding us the good days will one day come to an end if we do not fix our mistakes... There is true heart in this poem.

...then (if this is about you), I hope that you keep writing! With this poem, you made a crucial first step. You WERE able to tell the world something, say through the written word that communication is a struggle. This already means you're getting somewhere. Don't lose hope.
