I.
A small brush of fingers,
Biting your lips to stop a smile,
Choking on the words,
Dancing late under streetlights,
Everything could change with one slip,
Find my waist, feel my heartbeat,
Gripping me like I could fly away,
Hope glassy in your coffee eyes,
I would never leave.
II.
Just one more summer of this:
Kisses stolen when no one's watching,
Like it actually could mean something
More. But I know it doesn't at all,
Now, only one more year of suffering,
Of pretending like I'd be fine with being your friend,
Pushing those wants down until they disappear,
Quietly killing time, while you're murdering my hope.
III.
Rain pouring down our cheeks,
Such a good mask of the tears I don't want you to see,
Took you a second to shatter my windowless heart,
Unlike how I spent years preparing for this moment.
Violent shudders escape when I'm hiding away,
Waiting for you to find me, and say you're wrong,
X-raying my heart, you'll find nothing but scars
You carved your initials into,
Zipanu must be laughing at me now.
