BOOK PREVIEW
Chapter Eight
“Psst! Over here! Yo, Fei. OVER HERE, LADY.”
She whipped around, expecting to see a demon or some kind of monster. But no, it was just Tombri, with shadows under his eyes, holding a ball of light like a lantern.
“Why are you here?” She joined him at where the two pine trees had bent to make a passageway to Mossfern, hoping her parents hadn’t woken up and seen them in the backyard—or worse, Cola had been awakened by Fei’s clumsy footsteps and was coming to lecture her.
“I forgot to tell you something. You like books, right?”
“Whoa, hold on,” she said, hands on her hips, even though she probably looked ridiculous in her corgi nightgown. “You came here in the middle of the night, completely out of the blue, from another freaking planet, just so we could chat about books?”
