bite your tongue and swallow
count to ten, divisible by 2 on a good day and 5 on a bad day
9 chews too loud
8 rubs on each finger, 8 thumb to thumb and then every other finger. always an even number
7 steps to get inside the house. jump for 6 or cram an 8th. it must be even
6. safe. 3 on each, lucky lucky number 3. trust 3 but do not do three.
5 people,
4 that you love
3 that you actually like. special lucky 3.
2. simple, even, round, ornate. keep it that way
bite your tongue once, and swallow once. blink hard and open your eyes.

I love this poem so much! I might be wrong, but it kind of feels like a poem about OCD, even if it's not it is still so good! Love the routine-likeness of it. :)
