Peeling back the stroller cover unveils stars
and space
I may never know.
A child of the universe
beginning to comprehend it.
Her awestruck eyes taking in the starlight
taking the first step:
creating her farthest memory
A child of the universe
beginning to admire it.
The darting star she sees
it seems to reach out.
So I grasp at it.
My tiny fingers
grazing
its shimmering tail.
A child of the universe
beginning to reach for it.

I don't know that I've ever read a poem from a baby's perspective before... creative! It would only make sense that one of your first memories formed would be one from stroller-bound days, that starry night sky, grasping out toward the endless bounds of the universe above as you learn what the world has in store for you. A quaint picture.
