To Dance

To dance is to soar

To feel what it's like for the birds 

To be free in the air

If only for seconds,

Because in your mind, it will last a lifetime 

To dance is to be electric

To have music pulsing through your veins 

To be radiating energy that makes an audience laugh,

Or cry 

To dance is to feel, truly feel

To unleash the things we hide deep in our souls

To tell our story through stretches and shrinks 

My truth flows from my fingertips 

Falls to the floor from my feet

To dance is to learn what it means to love

To love yourself,

To love each other 

I will prove to myself that I am alive 

Show the world I will no longer hide 

To dance is to live

Even when the world is dying 

And I am dying

I will soar 

I will pulse

I will feel

I will love

I will live 

I will dance
