The definition of Thanksgiving

In my mind

"Thanksgiving" has warped definition

twisted and mushed and changed by lots of different people

it used to be a holiday of celebration;

now it's harsh and revealed and true

it's cruel and violent

it's honest

when the old definition of "Thanksgiving"

was sugared and sweet

it was fake

now, it's real

brutally honest

awfully terrible

I am ashamed to have participated in the play my preschool did ten years ago

wait

ten years?

All it takes is ten years

for the truth to be revealed

well, in reality it was more like nine or eight years

but that's so long

yet so short

of a time

to change the definition

of "Thanksgiving".
