erosion

a rock sat atop a ledge

on the side of the road,

its home.

sometimes people would

kick it around

on their daily runs

to who knows where,

a frivolous action according to

the little rock.

but not one to be questioned,

as long as the rock

could stay in its home.

but suddenly it was snatched up,

immediately wishing it could

break free

from the unknown force.

the rock was thrown

into the nearby river,

as if that was where it should be,

but the rock had

never been there before.

the river, not only unfamiliar, but

littered and dirty,

was not a proper home.

the rock was terrified,

trapped.

unsafe.

hoping, one day,

to find its way back

to the home it could

no longer see.

  • bloody ballot

    Trapped in a cult

    like father, like son.

    Bowing down to prejudice,

    is this really what won?

    The day after the election

    all my eyes could pour

    were endless tears,

    crying hope for no war.

  • thinking in three dots

broke out a pen, not a pencil

i usually use pencils for english homework,

    mechanical ones,

    teal or purple.

    but i guess it's different

    with forgotten homework,

    either rushed or

    completed by chatgpt

  • but i love you

I dread going to school every single day.

    I hate it,

    I hate being trapped there.

But I love being greeted by my best friend

    who could make hell

    feel as freezing as

    these February Maryland mornings.
