HEADLINES

Big words jumping out at you from creased paper, casually thrown on the counter, demanding attention

Meaningless opinions coated in fallacies

Awful, terrible things that sound so far away that they must be imagined

The reason your mom and dad argue and cry and pray for the future of our world

Scandals and gossip and murder and URGENT NEWS and opinions and stories, stories, stories

History being created, written big and bold above rows of small print

Fairytales being proven true, blowing up, celebrities divorcing again, economy and inflation and global warming and the legislative and who’s going to be the singular person who breaks it all?

Somebody trying so hard to get through to us, to change the world

—can they do it?—

On television now, everywhere, always, and those headlines, they won’t ever go away.
