If I could

(Inspired by Astronomy by Conan Gray)

I'd walk you out if I could

Open and close the door ever so gently

Hold your hand as we slowly say goodbye

Maybe give you a kiss right before you must drive away

And we'd talk about how one day, you'll surely stay

But I know I can't.

I can't hold your hand and walk you out and kiss you one more time

I can't say goodbye slowly, savouring every last feeling I can get from you

Not even a last sip of the sweetness you gave me

I'll kick you out just so you don't run away

Throw you out before you can go bad

 But I wish I didn't have to

I wish I didn't know what was coming next

I wish I didn't have to avoid it

I wish I didn't have to let you go.

Yet here I stand, helplessly still as you run from the life we took away

Wishing, hoping, begging you meant it when you said "one day I'll stay"

  • Delicate

    I am delicate,

    not fragile,

    please handle me as such.

    I was crafted,

    perfected,

but I will crumble under your touch.

    I am easy to break

because I am not meant to be broken,

  • Wanted

I wonder if I can't get over you

Because I can't get over being wanted

There was something special about being wanted

Knowing you'd talk for hours about me

And go out of your way to see

  • Reality

    I hold my breath

    Until we are free

    Free

    To simply

    Be.

    And I watch myself suffocate

    Forgive me.

I forgot what is of our reality
